Speculation surrounding the professional relationship between actor Shakib Khan and filmmaker Himel Ashraf has finally come to an end, with the director confirming that the duo will once again collaborate on a new film.
Himel Ashraf directed Priyotoma, the 2023 blockbuster widely credited with revitalising Shakib Khan’s career. The pair reunited the following year for Rajkumar. However, after the film failed to achieve the same level of commercial success, many in the industry assumed that the actor-director partnership had come to an end.
Those assumptions were dispelled after SVF-Alpha i co-founder Mahendra Soni shared a photograph on social media featuring himself alongside Shakib Khan, Shahriar Shakil and Himel Ashraf. Accompanying the image, he hinted at a new project with a poetic caption about stories, life, love and human connection.
Speaking to the TIMES of Bangladesh, Himel Ashraf confirmed that a new collaboration with Shakib Khan is indeed in the works.
“Yes, it is true that I am working with Shakib Bhai again. We are planning a romantic family drama,” the director said.
He added that the film’s title and cast have yet to be finalised. However, production houses Alpha-i and SVF will serve as producers.
According to Himel, shooting is expected to begin within the next month, while the release date has not yet been determined.
The announcement is likely to generate significant interest among fans, given the success of Priyotoma and the popularity of the Shakib-Himel pairing in recent years.
