Even the heavily guarded home of Shah Rukh Khan is not immune to unexpected visitors.
According to iDiva, a rat snake recently entered the actor’s iconic Mumbai residence, Mannat, leaving security personnel and residents startled.
An approximately eight-foot-long Indian rat snake, also known as a Dhaman, was spotted in the lawn and courtyard of the Bandra West property.
Following the sighting, snake rescuer Vicky Dubey was called to the residence.
Dubey safely caught the snake and released it into its natural habitat in accordance with Forest Department guidelines.
He also informed the Forest Department’s Round Officer and the Mumbai Range Office in Thane about the rescue.
While one snake was successfully rescued, reports suggest that there may have been a second snake at the property.
According to News18, two snakes were spotted at Mannat. The second one reportedly became startled by the movement of people and escaped before it could be rescued.
It remained untraceable at the time of the report.
The snake that was rescued was identified as a Dhaman, or Indian rat snake.
Despite its intimidating size, the species is non-venomous and generally poses no threat to humans unless provoked.
Indian rat snakes are non-venomous reptiles that are commonly found across the Indian subcontinent.
They are considered beneficial to farmers because they prey on rats and mice, helping control rodent populations.
Most rat snakes grow to between three and seven feet, although some can become considerably larger.
They are also agile climbers and can move up trees and walls with ease.
Because of their appearance, rat snakes are sometimes mistaken for venomous species such as cobras, often leading to unnecessary panic.
