Sergio Gor reaches Cox’s Bazar to visit Rohingya camps

A 14‑member delegation led by US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor arrived in Cox’s Bazar to visit the Rohingya refugee camps and assess ongoing humanitarian activities.

The team landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport around 12pm on Friday. US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen accompanied the delegation.

From the airport, they headed directly to the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya.

According to the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) office, the delegation will begin its visit at Camp No. 4 in Ukhiya, where they will observe activities run by the UN World Food Programme (WFP). They later will visit the extended Camp 8‑W and Camp No. 6.

After a day‑long camp visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet government officials and development partners at North End Coffee Restaurant in Ukhiya town in the afternoon.

Discussions are expected to cover the Rohingya crisis, ongoing humanitarian support, future cooperation, and repatriation.

The delegation will leave Cox’s Bazar for Dhaka in the evening after the meeting. Gor arrived in Dhaka Thursday on a three-day visit.
