Economist Prof Dr Selim Raihan has joined the Board of Trustees of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) as a member for a three-year term, adding his expertise in development economics to the organisation’s highest policy-making body.
Raihan, a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Dhaka and executive director of the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling, attended the board’s 128th meeting in Dhaka on Tuesday, 28 July, TIB said in a press release.
Raihan completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Dhaka before earning a PhD from the University of Manchester in the UK.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Development Network and serves as an honorary senior research fellow at the University of Manchester.
Raihan is also an alumnus of Harvard University’s “Cutting Edge of Development Thinking” programme.
TIB’s Board of Trustees is the organisation’s highest policy-making body.
Human rights activist Monsur Ahmed Choudhuri, founder of the floating hospital Jiban Tari, serves as chairperson of the board.
Mahfuz Anam, publisher and editor of The Daily Star, serves as treasurer.
The other trustees are Advocate Susmita Chakma, Philip Gain, Banasree Paul, Faruque Ahmed, Tahera Yasmin and Barrister Manzoor Hasan.
