Gold prices have dropped again for the second time in six hours, with 22-carat gold falling by Tk7,698 per bhori (11.664 grams) to settle at Tk2,46,927.
Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new price through a press release at 3:30pm on Thursday.
The price of 21-carat gold now stands at Tk2,35,671 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk2,02,020, and traditional method gold at Tk1,64,521.
BAJUS said the adjustment was made in line with overall market conditions following a decrease in the local price of tejabi gold, or pure gold.
The notice further said 5 percent VAT and minimum wage of 6 percent must be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wage may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
Meanwhile, silver prices have also fallen by Tk350. 22-carat silver is now selling at Tk5,365 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk5,132, 18-carat at Tk4,432, and traditional silver at Tk3,324.
This marks the second reduction of the day, following an earlier price drop announced by BAJUS at 9:30am.
