Admissions for students from Class I to Class IX for the 2026 academic year will once again be held through a digital lottery system in all government and non-government secondary schools located in metropolitan areas, district headquarters, and upazila towns across the country.

The decision was made on Monday at a meeting chaired by Professor BM Abdul Hannan, director general (in charge) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).

According to DSHE sources, online applications for school admissions will open on 21 November and remain available until 5 December. The digital lottery draw is expected to take place on 14 December, with technical support provided by Teletalk, the state-run mobile operator.

As per the admission schedule, head teachers of respective schools will be able to upload registration data and information on available seats to the DSHE’s central software system between 12 and 19 November.

Officials said detailed guidelines regarding the admission process will be issued ahead of the application opening date.
