The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court is set to deliver its verdict on Thursday on the appeal filed by Khan Akram Hossain, seeking acquittal from the imprisonment until death sentence handed down for crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 Liberation War.

A bench headed by the Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury fixed the date on Wednesday. Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam represented the prosecution during the proceedings.

Khan Akram was previously sentenced to imprisonment until death by the International Crimes Tribunal in Bagerhat on 11 August 2015.

Following the tribunal’s ruling, he filed an appeal in the Supreme Court.

The prosecution had accused Khan Akram of committing crimes against humanity in multiple areas of Bagerhat during the 1971 Liberation War.
