SBAC Bank PLC has entered its 14th year, highlighting steady growth across key financial indicators and a strong liquidity position backed by a cautious investment approach.

The updates were shared at a meet-the-press event held at the bank’s head office on Wednesday, according to a press release.

SBAC Bank Managing Director and CEO SM Moinul Kabir presided over the event, while SBAC Bank Chairman Engineer Md Mokhlesur Rahman attended as chief guest. Additional Managing Director Md Robiul Islam, Deputy Managing Director Md Altaf Hossain Bhuiyan, along with divisional heads and senior officials, were present.

The bank has maintained stable growth in deposits, loans and advances, import-export trade, remittance inflows, capital and total assets, with profit aligned to prevailing economic conditions.

Its capital adequacy remains above requirement, liquidity is strong due to the absence of aggressive investments, and the non-performing loan ratio remains within a tolerable range.

The bank began operations on 3 April 2013 as South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank Limited and now operates as SBAC Bank PLC following regulatory approval and customer acceptance.

It currently serves clients through 90 branches, 32 sub-branches, agent outlets and 77 ATM booths, alongside Shariah-based Islamic banking services through 10 branches. The bank also provides offshore banking support for foreign trade and is listed on the capital market.

Total deposits rose 15 per cent to Tk11,000 crore, while loans and advances increased 7.5 per cent to Tk9,500 crore, bringing the advance-deposit ratio to 82 per cent, below the central bank ceiling of 87 per cent for conventional banks.

Total assets stood at Tk13,360 crore, while paid-up capital reached Tk824 crore. Under Basel III, the capital adequacy ratio stood at 14.22 per cent, indicating a strong financial base.

Depositors remain secure with the bank, said SBAC Bank Chairman Engineer Md Mokhlesur Rahman.

The board and management have taken steps to ensure service quality, and the bank remains committed to customers and the country, he said, adding that trust is built over time through ethical practices and high standards.

He said the bank is prioritising investment in agriculture and food production, alongside value-added services for overseas workers and initiatives to support young entrepreneurs.

The bank has not faced difficulties in meeting payment obligations due to strong liquidity, said SBAC Bank Managing Director and CEO SM Moinul Kabir.

Stable indicators have supported sustainable growth, while adherence to Bangladesh Bank regulations has helped avoid capital or provisioning shortfalls, he said.

He added that priority has been given to agriculture, agro-based industries and cottage, small and medium enterprises, with 36 per cent of total investment allocated to the SME sector.

The bank is also expanding non-funded commission-based foreign trade alongside large industries and term loans, while continued focus on remittance and core banking operations is contributing to the broader economy, he added.
