SBAC Bank has launched its Bangla QR initiative under the central bank’s interoperable digital payment platform, signing up several small shops including King’s Confectionery in Motijheel as part of efforts to promote cashless transactions.
The bank organised a rally from its head office on Monday, led by Managing Director Abdul Quaium Chowdhury, which passed through Motijheel and Dilkusha areas, said a press release.
Deputy Managing Director Altaf Hossain Bhuyan, Banking Operations Head Masoodur Rahman, Credit Administration Head Abdul Mannan, Chief Technology Officer Mofazzal Mamun Khan, Retail Distribution Head Rashed Akter, Principal Branch Head Shafiur Rahman and Digital Financial Inclusion Head Mohammad Shafiul Azam attended the rally along with senior officials.
SBAC Bank handed over a Merchant QR to King’s Confectionery as an acquirer, and a digital payment was made at the shop using the bank’s mobile app, BanglaPay. The bank provided Merchant QR to several other small shops on the same day.
Chowdhury said the initiative would make digital payments more accessible to small businesses and customers while contributing to the central bank’s vision of a cashless economy.
