Bangladesh Mohila Krira Sangstha President Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla is representing Bangladesh at the “IWG Global Summit on Women and Sport 2026,” the world’s largest international gathering dedicated to gender equality and women’s empowerment in sports.
The prestigious three-day global summit is set to take place from Thursday to Saturday at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, United Kingdom, reads a press release.
Barrister Shukla is currently in the UK to participate in the event, which will be attended by over 1,200 international delegates, including sports organisers, policymakers, and sports scientists.
In addition to her role as president of the Bangladesh Mohila Krira Sangstha, Barrister Shukla serves as the Vice-President of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) and a Director of the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP), the country’s sole state-run sports education institution.
She has also been appointed as a key member of a high-level government committee recently established by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to ensure the overall safety, equality, and rights of women in the sporting arena.
Sports experts consider her participation a significant milestone for the country’s sports diplomacy. Her visit is viewed as highly relevant to the government’s ongoing “Notun Kuri Sports” initiative, which encourages children and adolescents to engage in sports, as well as the newly formed “Sports Diplomacy” wing—a joint initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Speaking on the eve of her departure for the UK, Barrister Shukla said, “The participation and success of women in Bangladesh’s sports sector are now acclaimed worldwide. At this IWG global platform, we want to highlight our achievements and implement modern strategies for female leadership and legal protection in the international sports arena within the context of Bangladesh.”
During the three-day summit, Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla is scheduled to participate in networking sessions and special discussions with international sports policymakers and representatives from various National Olympic Committees.
