Miss World Bangladesh 2026 Samanzar Sayeed is taking a public health mission to the 73rd Miss World Grand Finale in Vietnam, where she hopes to represent Bangladesh beyond the pageant spotlight.
Speaking at a media conference in Dhaka on Thursday before her departure, Samanzar outlined her Beauty With a Purpose project, Hygiene for Health Bangladesh. The initiative aims to recruit 10,000 volunteers over the next year and provide hygiene education to more than one million people across Bangladesh.
The 73rd Miss World Grand Finale will take place on 5 September in Vietnam. Samanzar hopes to use the global platform to highlight Bangladesh’s culture and her community-based approach to preventive healthcare.
Azra Mahmood, founder and managing director of AMTC (Azra Mahmood Talent Camp) and national director of Miss World Bangladesh, said the organisation wants to give beauty pageants a greater social purpose in Bangladesh. She said Samanzar’s project is among the most comprehensive Beauty With a Purpose initiatives undertaken by a Bangladeshi titleholder.
According to Mahmood, the project has already established partnerships with NGOs, educational institutions and development organisations and is building a volunteer network focused on preventive health education.
Former Miss World Bangladesh Rafah Nanjeba Torsa also urged Bangladeshis to support Samanzar.
“Miss World is much more than a beauty contest. It celebrates confidence, personality and meaningful social work,” she said.
With online voting expected to begin soon, Torsa called on Bangladeshis to support Samanzar and refrain from negative comments on social media.
“If you cannot write something positive about her, at least do not write anything negative. International audiences and judges often see these comments, and they also reflect on our country,” she said.
