Bangladesh HP opener Jishan Alam smashed a 19-ball fifty in the second and final T20I against Malaysia, finishing unbeaten on 57 off 21 balls to help his side seal the series 2-0. The right-hander now hopes to use the performance as a stepping stone towards earning more opportunities.
Following the T20I series, Malaysia will face Bangladesh Under-23 in a three-match ODI series. Although Jishan is not part of the U-23 squad, he will travel to Australia to play in the upcoming Top End T20 tournament.
Jishan’s explosive knock featured two fours and seven sixes. Speaking to reporters after the match, he highlighted the opportunities available through the newly formed Under-23 setup and the lower-tier National Cricket League team.
“We have a new Under-23 team, where there will be plenty of matches. Similarly, there is a lower-tier team in the NCL, which also provides plenty of opportunities to play,” Jishan said.
“If every player stays involved in regular matches, their skills will gradually develop. I have no regrets about not getting to play, but I am continuing to work hard. I felt a little disappointed that I couldn’t play a match in the BPL last year. However, I continued practising regularly and stayed in the process so that I could perform well in the matches ahead,” he added.
