Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s latest film Maa Inti Bangaaram has surpassed the lifetime worldwide box-office collection of Anushka Shetty’s Arundhati (2009), ending a record that had stood for 17 years among women-led Telugu films.
According to The India Today, Maa Inti Bangaaram grossed ₹78.71 crore (approximately Tk111 crore) worldwide within 10 days of its theatrical release, overtaking Arundhati’s lifetime worldwide collection of around ₹70 crore (approximately Tk99 crore).
Directed by BV Nandini Reddy, the action-family drama was released in cinemas on 19 June. The film opened with an India net collection of ₹5.15 crore (approximately Tk7.3 crore) on its first day before rising to ₹9.5 crore (approximately Tk 3.4 crore) on its third day. By the 10th day, its India net collection had reached ₹48.25 crore (approximately Tk68.2 crore), while its worldwide gross stood at ₹78.71 crore (approximately Tk111 crore).
The India Today reported that the film marked Samantha’s second collaboration with director BV Nandini Reddy after their successful Telugu fantasy comedy Oh Baby (2019).
Written by Raj Nidimoru and Vasanth Maringanti, the film follows the story of a homemaker, played by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is forced to confront her action-filled past. Samantha also produced the film alongside Raj Nidimoru and Himank Duvvuru.
The cast also includes Diganth Manchale, Gulshan Devaiah, Sree Mukhi, Gautami, Anand, Lakshmi, Srinivas Gavireddy and Manjusha.
According to The Hollywood Reporter India, Samantha’s recent projects include the Telugu horror comedy Subham (2025) and the action-spy drama Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian spin-off of the American series released in 2024. Her notable works also include Eega (2012) and The Family Man Season 2 (2021).
At the film’s success event, producer Raj Nidimoru announced that Maa Inti Bangaaram Part 2 is already in development. The sequel is expected to go into production within the next two years with the core creative team returning.
