The government has announced that Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed will assume responsibility for the Ministry of Defence, the Cabinet Division, and the Armed Forces Division during the absence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
A gazette notification was issued on 17 March regarding the matter.
Salahuddin, a senior cabinet member, will oversee administrative and operational responsibilities for the defence and armed forces portfolios until the prime minister resumes his duties.
According to the notification, Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will oversee the Prime Minister’s Office in the absence of the PM.
