Bangladesh has a proud presence in the Ashes as the first Test begins in Perth. Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat from Bangladesh is serving as the TV umpire in the opening match. His role will grow even bigger in the second Test, where he will stand as an on-field umpire.
In the first Test, Saikat is working with Nitin Menon and Adrian Holdstock, who will take charge on the field. Shawn Craig from Australia will act as the fourth umpire. Ranjan Madugalle from Sri Lanka will be the match referee.
Saikat’s duties increase in the second Test, which starts on 4 December in Brisbane. He will stand as one of the on-field umpires. Adrian Holdstock will join him in the middle. Nitin Menon will move to the TV umpire role.
These appointments highlight Bangladesh’s growing reputation in cricket officiating. Saikat has become a regular name in major events and continues to represent his country with pride.
He will not officiate in the rest of the series. The third Test starts on 17 December, the fourth on 26 December, and the fifth on 4 January. Jeff Crowe will serve as the match referee for those matches.
