The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced its squad for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 last week, with Akbar Ali set to lead the team in the six-a-side tournament. The competition will take place at the Kowloon Cricket Club Recreation Ground in Hong Kong from 7 to 9 November.
The Bangladesh team departed for Hong Kong on Tuesday night, but pacer Mohammad Saifuddin was forced to withdraw at the last moment due to an ankle injury sustained during practice in Chattogram. It is expected to take about a week for him to recover fully. Habibur Rahman Sohan has been called up as Saifuddin’s replacement in the squad.
The Hong Kong Sixes tournament, first held in 2002, was a regular feature until 2012 before returning in 2017. After another gap, the event resumed in 2024 and is being held for the second consecutive year. Bangladesh reached the semifinals in last year’s edition.
