SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) inaugurated the “SAC Book Corner” at the Agriculture Building of the University of Rajshahi on Sunday.
The initiative aims to strengthen academic resources and promote regional knowledge exchange in agriculture and allied disciplines.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Rajshahi, Md Faridul Islam, as chief guest.
Special guests included Director of SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) Md Harunur Rashid, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Rajshahi Mohammad Main Uddin, Pro Vice-Chancellor Md Farid Uddin Khan, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture Md Arifur Rahman, and Dean of Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science KM Mozaffor Hossain.
SAC senior programme specialists, senior officers, faculty members and students were also present.
The event was chaired by Md Mostafizur Rahman Mondol, Dean, Faculty of Fisheries, University of Rajshahi. The welcome address was delivered by Md Yeamin Hossain, Professor of the Department of Fisheries. The session was conducted by Md Tariqul Islam of the same department.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Faridul Islam stressed the importance of accessible academic resources in advancing agricultural research and education. He said the SAC Book Corner would support students and researchers in exploring regional innovations. He also emphasised stronger collaboration with SAARC and SAC to promote knowledge sharing and sustainable agricultural development.
SAC Director Md Harunur Rashid highlighted SAC’s commitment to knowledge sharing among SAARC member states.
He said the initiative would support evidence-based research and encourage collaboration among young scholars and professionals in agriculture. He also underlined the importance of connectivity and access to quality reference materials in strengthening academic and research capacity.
