The rulling party activists have become preoccupied with politicisation and looting, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar alleged on Friday.
He also alleged that party activists across the country are becoming embroiled in internal conflicts over the distribution of Family Cards and Farmer Cards.
Porwar made the allegations while speaking as the chief guest at a youth representatives’ conference organised by the youth and sports department of Khulna city Jamaat this morning.
He accused the government of “openly deceiving” the people by refusing to accept the outcome of the referendum.
“The government should immediately accept the referendum verdict and take steps to maintain stability in the country,” he said.
Porwar also criticised the government’s decision to assign reserved-seat women MPs to oversee elected MPs, calling the move unconstitutional.
He warned that such a decision would hamper development activities in the constituencies.
The conference was chaired by Mukarram Billah Ansari, president of the Jamaat’s youth department.
Among others, Khulna-6 lawmaker Abul Kalam Azad, Khulna city Jamaat Ameer Mahfuzur Rahman, and its secretary and Khulna-2 lawmaker Jahangir Hossain Helal addressed the programme.
