BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, who is receiving treatment at Square Hospital, is showing signs of “slight improvement” in his physical condition.
BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam confirmed on Thursday that Rizvi’s oxygen requirements have decreased. “Previously, he needed more oxygen support, but now it has reduced as his condition improves slowly,” he said, reports UNB.
Dr Rafiqul also mentioned that Rizvi had been diagnosed with a respiratory infection, but the latest medical report showed some positive developments. However, doctors have advised him to remain in complete rest for the next few days.
Rizvi was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday due to breathing difficulties and fever. On Wednesday night, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman visited the hospital to enquire about his condition.
Rizvi is being treated under the supervision of Dr Raihan Rabbani. His personal assistant, Arifur Rahman Tushar, stated that doctors have restricted visitors to prevent the spread of infection. “He has been advised to take full rest. After waking up this morning, he inquired about the election and voter turnout,” Tushar added.
Rizvi’s family has requested prayers for his swift recovery.
