Candidates from the BNP-led alliance for the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament are predominantly lawyers and businesspersons. At the same time, about half of the alliance’s candidates are millionaires, and many face multiple cases.
In contrast, most candidates from the Jamaat alliance are teachers, and only one among them is a millionaire.
Selima Rahman, a BNP alliance candidate, is set to become a member of parliament for the third time.
She had eight cases filed against her, all of which were withdrawn in 2025. Her annual income is Tk 3.6 million, and she has declared assets worth around Tk 68.9 million. Her profession is listed as politics.
Another BNP candidate, Shirin Sultana, has 10 cases currently under trial. She reports an annual income of Tk 3.6 million and assets worth over Tk 650,000. She is a businesswoman. Meanwhile, Rasheda Begum Hira had one case against her.
She has an annual income exceeding Tk 2.5 million and assets worth more than Tk 15.3 million.
Rehena Akter Ranu reported movable assets of nearly Tk 30 million and had one case filed against her. She is a lawyer.
Lawyer Neowaz Halima also had one case; she declared an annual income of over Tk 1.4 million and assets worth Tk 15 million.
Farida Yasmin was acquitted in one case. She reported an annual income of Tk 390,000 and assets worth Tk 4.9 million. Businesswoman Bilkis Islam is returning as a reserved-seat MP and has no cases against her. She declared an annual income of Tk 650,000 and assets worth Tk 6.45 million.
Lawyer Shakila Farzana was acquitted in two cases. She has an annual income of around Tk 1.45 million and assets worth Tk 9.4 million.
BNP alliance candidate Helen Jerin Khan has been discharged from 11 cases. She reports an annual income of over Tk 3.7 million and assets worth Tk 60 million. Nilofar Chowdhury Moni, a lawyer, has never faced any case; she declared an annual income of Tk 500,000 and assets worth Tk 4.4 million.
Nipun Roy Chowdhury, also a lawyer, received discharge, acquittal, or final reports in 23 cases in 2025. She reported an annual income of Tk 3.05 million and assets worth Tk 37.9 million, including 502 bhori of gold.
Businesswoman Jeba Amina Khan renounced her UK citizenship on 12 April to qualify for parliamentary membership.
She faces nine cases, some stayed by the High Court and others under bail. She declared an annual income of about Tk 550,000 and total assets worth Tk 8 million.
Businesswoman Mahmudah Habiba has no cases against her. She reported an annual income of Tk 600,000 and assets worth Tk 14 million. Sabira Sultana has two cases ongoing and was acquitted in eight others. Her annual income is Tk 1.5 million, with assets worth Tk 12.6 million.
Her profession is listed as business and social work. Sansila Jebrin is a doctor with no cases against her. She reported an annual income of around Tk 700,000 and assets worth nearly Tk 6.4 million.
Sanjida Islam Tuli has no cases. She declared an annual income of Tk 585,000 and assets worth Tk 21.3 million, listing her profession as homemaker.
Writer and analyst Sultana Ahmed was acquitted in five cases. She reported an annual income of Tk 9.6 million and assets worth Tk 55 million. Fahmida Haque declared an annual income of Tk 700,000 and assets worth Tk 6 million.
Anna Minz, a private-sector employee, reported an annual income of Tk 10.5 million and assets worth Tk 30.8 million. Subarna Sikder, a teacher, declared an annual income of Tk 763,000 and assets worth Tk 3.9 million.
Shamima Ara Begum Swapna has been discharged in two cases. She reported an annual income of Tk 26 million and assets worth Tk 40 million. She is a lawyer.
Mosammat Shammi Akter identified herself as a social worker and politician and does not pay income tax. Ferdousi Ahmed, a businesswoman, faces seven cases; she reported an annual income of Tk 491,000 and assets worth Tk 18.1 million.
Bithika Binte Hossain, a businesswoman, reported an annual income of Tk 3.8 million and assets worth Tk 21.2 million. Suraiya Jerin, also a businesswoman, was acquitted in six cases. She declared an annual income of Tk 250,000 and assets worth nearly Tk 1.4 million.
Mansura Akter reported no income in her tax return and listed assets worth Tk 300,000. She is the only candidate to identify herself as a student.
Zohorat Adib Chowdhury, a lawyer, reported an annual income of Tk 31.7 million and assets worth Tk 39.6 million.
Mamtaz Alo listed her profession as politics and social work.
She reported an annual income of Tk 586,000 and assets worth Tk 7.2 million. Fahima Nasrin, a lawyer, had one case stayed and was discharged in another. She declared an annual income of Tk 1.183 million and assets worth Tk 28.3 million.
Arifa Sultana, also a lawyer, was discharged in six cases. She reported an annual income of Tk 566,000 and assets worth Tk 4.67 million. Sanjida Yasmin, a businesswoman, had one case closed through a final report; she declared an annual income of Tk 500,000 and assets worth Tk 3.7 million.
Nadia Pathan Papon, a businesswoman, had three cases resolved. She reported an annual income of Tk 500,000 and assets exceeding Tk 5 million.
Among others, lawyer Shaukat Ara Akter earns about Tk 1 million annually and has assets worth Tk 20 million. Lawyer Madhabi Marma reported an annual income of over Tk 300,000 and assets worth Tk 2.1 million.
Selina Sultana identified herself as a woman entrepreneur and was acquitted in one case. She reported an annual income of Tk 83,000 and assets worth Tk 2.25 million.
Rezika Sultana, a lawyer, declared an annual income of Tk 882,000 and assets worth Tk 9.7 million.
Jamaat bloc contrasts with modest assets, teacher-heavy lineup
On the other hand, Jamaat alliance candidate Nurunnisa Siddika is a retired teacher with an annual income of Tk 161,000 and assets worth about Tk 3 million.
Marzia Begum, who identified herself as a homemaker, reported an annual income of Tk 264,000 and assets worth Tk 8.8 million.
Another candidate, Sabikun Nahar, is a lawyer with an annual income of Tk 1.6 million and assets worth Tk 13.8 million.
Nazmun Nahar, a teacher, reported no annual income and has assets worth about Tk 2.3 million. Mahfuza Hannan, a retired teacher, reported an annual income of Tk 380,000 and assets worth about Tk 3.9 million.
Homemaker Sajeda Samad had one case withdrawn by executive order last year. She reported an annual income of Tk 250,000 and assets worth Tk 1.25 million.
Shamsunnahar Begum, a teacher, earns Tk 171,000 annually and has assets worth Tk 950,000. Mardia Mamtaz, also a teacher, reported an annual income of Tk 444,000 and assets worth Tk 2.1 million.
Another candidate, Rokeya Begum, a retired teacher, reported no personal income. Meanwhile, National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Mahmudah Alam Mitu is a doctor with an annual income of Tk 300,000 and assets worth Tk 2.8 million.
Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (Jagpa) leader Tasmia Pradhan is a lawyer who reported an annual income of around Tk 800,000 and assets worth Tk 6.7 million.
The Election Commission said the affidavit of Mahbuba Hakim would be published later due to inconsistencies.
From the independent alliance, candidate Sultana Jesmin works in research and consultancy. She had five cases filed against her. She reported an annual income of Tk 550,000 and assets worth Tk 2.85 million.
