Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has called for the immediate removal of two to three advisers whom he claims are misguiding Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
Taher made this statement during a human chain organised by his party on Tuesday in the Matshya Bhaban area of the capital, as part of their ongoing campaign for five key demands.
Speaking at the rally, Taher said, “Look at the fate of those who have betrayed the people of this country over the past fifteen years. They cannot see the light of the sun. If the current advisory council betrays the blood of the people, their fate will be even more disastrous.”
He further stated, “We do not seek arbitrary justice. No good person should be subjected to unjust judgment. If reforms and the implementation of the July Charter are not carried out, the people of the country are preparing to take to the streets very soon.”
The Jamaat leader also outlined the party’s five-point demands, which include: holding a referendum through the implementation of the July National Charter to organise elections in February; incorporating the PR system in both houses of the next national election by integrating it into the July National Charter; ensuring a level playing field for everyone to enable a free, fair, and acceptable election; bringing visible justice for the atrocities, genocide, and corruption of the fascist government; and banning the activities of the National Party and the 14-party alliance, which Jamaat views as accomplices of the autocracy.
As part of their demands, Jamaat’s North and South City branches organised a human chain from Gabtali to Jatrabari.
