A record 1,733 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours, marking the highest single-day admissions this year, while eight more patients succumbed to the disease.

The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the latest figures in its daily dengue report issued on Monday.

Among the newly admitted patients, 1,102 are males and 631 are females. With these new cases, total dengue hospitalisations since 1 January this year have reached 53,570, comprising 33,307 males and 20,222 females.

Of the eight deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, two were males and six were females. The total death toll from dengue this year has now risen to 157, including 74 males and 82 females.

Meanwhile, 1,282 patients were discharged from hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, bringing total hospital discharges since the beginning of the year to 49,375.

According to DGHS data, 4,038 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals, with 3,434 in government and autonomous hospitals and 604 in private hospitals and clinics.

Over the same 24-hour period, 1,330 new patients were admitted to government and autonomous hospitals, while 86 were admitted to private facilities.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have recorded the highest number of dengue hospitalisations so far this year.

According to divisional and city corporation data from the DGHS, 8,764 patients have been admitted in Dhaka North City Corporation and 8,729 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

In the last 24 hours, admission numbers in the two capital city corporations remained significant, with 191 patients admitted in Dhaka North City Corporation and another 191 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
