A cancer awareness programme highlighted early detection and prevention, focusing on breast and cervical cancer among women, at Chowdhury Abdul Hamid Academy in Goalanda Upazila of Rajbari.

The event was organised under the campaign “Healthy Life, Awareness Today, Protection Tomorrow” by Ujjwala Women and Youth Welfare Foundation and CCI Foundation, a press release said.

The programme drew students, parents and local residents, with sessions explaining early symptoms, preventive measures, and the importance of timely diagnosis.

Ujjwala Foundation Acting President Samia Afrin, a cancer survivor and media personality, and Ujjwala Foundation President Afroza Parveen, also a cancer survivor, shared personal experiences to stress awareness and prevention.

Teachers, community leaders and volunteers took part in the programme, with many expressing interest in joining future awareness activities.

The organisers said they plan to expand initiatives through medical camps, cancer screening, and phased primary healthcare services.
