Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning are likely in several parts of the country over the next 24 hours, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
In a bulletin issued on Wednesday morning, the weather office said many areas in Rangpur Division, Mymensingh Division and Sylhet Division may experience rainfall or thundershowers, while one or two places in Rajshahi Division, Dhaka Division, Khulna Division, Barishal Division and Chattogram Division may also receive rain.
The department said moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
Meanwhile, a mild heatwave continues to sweep over Noakhali, Khulna, Bagerhat and Jashore, and it may persist.
Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.
The highest temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius in Jashore, while the lowest temperature on Wednesday was 23.4 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.
In Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 6:36pm today and rise at 5:13am tomorrow.
