Chattogram police raided the residence of former education minister and Awami League joint general secretary Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel on Wednesday afternoon.
The operation, conducted around 3:30 pm, took place at Nowfel’s home in Chashma Hill, , Pahartali area of the city. Following the raid, seven individuals, reportedly household staff, were taken to the local police station.
Pahartali Police Officer-in-Charge Solaiman said the raid was conducted following a Facebook post by a ‘July fighter,’ who wished to remain anonymous, alleging that several party leaders and activists had assembled at the residence ahead of the Awami League’s 13 November programme, with food ordered from outside.
No political figures were present at the time, but the seven staff members were taken into custody as suspects. Their involvement is being verified, and and legal action will be taken if necessary.
Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury is the eldest son of the late ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation.
