Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has congratulated the Bangladesh national cricket team after their thrilling 2–1 ODI series victory over the Pakistan national cricket team.
Bangladesh secured the series in dramatic fashion at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, winning the third and final ODI by 11 runs in a tense contest that went down to the final over.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 290 runs. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim starred with a brilliant 107 from 107 deliveries, registering the first ODI century of his career and anchoring the hosts’ innings.
Pakistan mounted a strong reply thanks to a superb century from Salman Ali Agha, who scored 106 and kept his side firmly in the chase. However, his dismissal late in the innings shifted the momentum back towards Bangladesh.
Shaheen Shah Afridi attempted to keep Pakistan’s hopes alive with a late flourish with the bat, but Bangladesh held their nerve to secure an 11-run victory and clinch the series.
Following the win, Prime Minister Rahman praised the team’s determination and unity in an official statement.
“Bangladesh’s brave young cricketers proved today that with determination and unity, victory can always be achieved,” he said. “Their impressive performance against Pakistan has made the nation proud. I hope this success will continue in the future.”
The series also marked Bangladesh’s first bilateral assignment since the change of government, making the victory even more significant for the national side.
