The National Stadium hosted a celebratory gathering of former footballers on Independence Day, as they took part in a friendly exhibition match split between red and green teams. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, accompanied by his daughter Zaima Rahman, was present to watch the occasion.
Arriving at the venue, the Prime Minister greeted the players with handshakes and posed for photographs with both sides. He later took his seat in the dugout to watch the match, which kicked off shortly after 4:00 pm.
The fixture brought together several well-known former players, adding to the festive atmosphere of the day. State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque featured for the red team, operating in midfield rather than his familiar role in goal.
The red side also included notable names such as Alfaz Ahmed, Rumman Bin Wali Sabbir, Kaiser Hamid and Golam Gaus.
Meanwhile, the green team featured players including Enamul, Wali Faisal, Syed Hasan Kanan and Golam Rabbani Choton, among others.
The exhibition match formed part of the Independence Day celebrations, offering fans a chance to revisit familiar faces while honouring the country’s footballing heritage.
