Prime Bank Cricket Club climbed to the top of the Dhaka Premier League table with five wins from five after beating Mohammedan Sporting Club by three wickets in a thrilling last-over chase on Saturday. The day also produced five centuries, a career-best six-wicket haul from Abdul Gaffar Saqlain and one of the crueller individual moments of the season, Mohammad Naim Sheikh dismissed for 99 after a ball from Abu Hashim turned sharply through the gap between bat and pad to rattle his stumps.

Prime Bank edge Mohammedan

At the Bashundhara Sports City Cricket Ground, Naim’s 99 off 107 balls, which included nine fours and two sixes, had helped Mohammedan post a competitive 304. Parvez Hossain added 52 and Afif Hossain contributed 49, with Abu Hashim taking four wickets for 30.

Shahadat Hossain Dipu anchored the chase from the top of the order, striking 118 off 123 balls with 10 fours and two sixes before falling in the 47th over. Shamim Hossain sealed it with a brisk unbeaten 37 off 21 balls as Prime Bank crossed the line with five balls to spare. Saif Uddin took four wickets in a losing cause.

Mithun’s eight-six blitz

At the Cricketers Academy ground, Dhaka Leopards captain Mohammad Mithun was in devastating form against Brothers Union, smashing 112 off 86 balls with eight sixes and three fours to win the player of the match award. Moin Khan added 69 off 44 balls as Leopards posted 351 before dismissing Brothers for 231 to win by 120 runs. Golam Kibria top-scored for Brothers with 51 off 46 balls batting at number eight.

Shibli’s maiden List A century

At BKSP Ground Four, Legends of Rupganj crushed Gulshan Cricket Club by 205 runs. Ashikur Rahman Shibli, 20, had been stranded on 99 not out in a previous match this season and finally claimed his maiden List A century, striking 119 off 130 balls as Rupganj posted 354. Gulshan were bowled out for 149, with Nasum Ahmed taking four wickets for 32.

Abahani make it three wins in a row

In Mirpur, Abahani Limited beat Bashundhara Strikers by four wickets for a third consecutive victory after losing their opening two matches. Captain Mosaddek Hossain claimed the player of the match award for an all-round display: two wickets for 33 from 10 overs, two catches and a punishing 57 off 54 balls at number six, including five sixes and three fours. Sabbir Rahman finished unbeaten on 50 to seal the win with 64 balls remaining. Aminul Islam Biplob top-scored for Bashundhara with 81 and Rohanat Doullah Barshon took four wickets for 34.

Saqlain’s career-best fires City Club

At BKSP Ground Three, City Club beat Rupganj Tigers by six wickets with Saqlain producing a career-best display, taking six of the seven Rupganj Tigers wickets to fall for just 37 runs from 10 overs including two maidens. The 28-year-old pace-bowling allrounder had never taken five wickets in 30 previous List A matches. Mahmudal Hasan top-scored for Rupganj Tigers with 106 off 144 balls. Sadikur Rahman then scored his own first List A century, an unbeaten 105 off 95 balls, to seal the chase, with Enamul Haq providing explosive support with 90 off 85 balls including eight sixes.

Agrani Bank beat Gazi Group

Agrani Bank beat Gazi Group by four wickets, chasing 253 with seven balls to spare. After slipping to 89 for 5, Nasir Hossain and Shuvagata Hom added 139 for the sixth wicket. Nasir finished unbeaten on 78 to win the player of the match award, with Shuvagata making 78 before falling.
