President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday urged Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to play a stronger role in curbing smuggling, drug trafficking, push‑ins, and border killings.
He made the call when BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui paid a courtesy call at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, Ashrafuzzaman congratulated the president on assuming office and briefed him on the force’s activities, including plans to enhance surveillance along the borders with advanced drones and modern technologies.
The president welcomed the initiative to introduce new technologies for strengthening border security and assured the force of full cooperation.
