National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain said on Sunday that the party is preparing to form a “shadow cabinet” to oversee government activities.
“We are preparing to form a shadow cabinet,” he wrote in a post on his verified Facebook page.
He said the proposed body would work to ensure transparency and accountability and act as a watchdog over overall state affairs.
In a separate post, the NCP leader said the party would consider boycotting the swearing-in ceremony if Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attends the programme.
The oath-taking ceremony of members of parliament and cabinet members is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
