BNP-nominated candidate for Chittagong-9 constituency, Abu Sufian, said that the recent shootings and killings of BNP leaders and activists cannot be viewed as isolated incidents, and that these are part of a planned conspiracy to disrupt the election environment.
“Those who do not want elections, who want to obstruct the democratic process, are the ones involved in such activities,” he added.
He said these things at a discussion meeting with journalists working in Chittagong at a restaurant in Jamal Khan, Chittagong city, on Sunday afternoon.
Abu Sufian said, the incidents of shooting at the public gathering of Ershad Ullah, convener of Chittagong Metropolitan BNP and candidate for Chittagong-8 constituency, and the killing of Osman Hadi in Dhaka are deeply concerning. Such incidents are disrupting the normal environment of the election.
He urged the administration to take responsibility of the administration to quickly bring armed terrorists under the law and ensure a fair and safe environment for the election.
Expressing optimism about the election situation, this BNP candidate said, “Fascists have left. New dreams have arisen among the people that people’s elected representatives will run the country.” He stated that a strong interest and enthusiasm to participate in the election is being observed among people, and he hopes that a huge number of voters will be present at polling centres.
He said, at one time elections were festive. People used to go and vote with their family members with joy. embers with joy. But the previous government turned election day into a day of fear. Leaving that dark chapter behind, he wants to see a free, fair, and festive elections this time.
Abu Sufian added that assurances have been given by the Election Commission, the army, and other law enforcement agencies regarding the security of voters. Expressing confidence in that assurance, he said that if people remain vigilant, no evil force will be able to cloud the election environment.
