Prachyanat School of Acting and Design is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a two-day Silver Jubilee Festival beginning on Thursday at the National Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The festival, titled Prachyanat School Silver Jubilee Festival, will also feature the graduation ceremony and certificate presentation for the institution’s 50th batch.
According to Prachyanat School of Acting and Design, the event will bring together former and current students from the first to the 50th batch, alongside teachers, trainers, theatre practitioners and cultural enthusiasts.
The two-day celebration will include the 50th batch’s graduation production, reunion sessions, reminiscences, honouring distinguished contributors, cultural performances and special programmes highlighting the institution’s 25-year journey.
The festival will be inaugurated on Thursday evening by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, political adviser to the Prime Minister.
Special guests will include novelist Afsana Begum and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed.
At 7:30pm, the 50th batch will stage Rabindranath Tagore’s Rother Roshi, directed by Shahana Rahman, as its graduation production.
On Friday at 3:30pm, a seminar titled Education Through Theatre and Theatre Education: Contemporary Bangladeshi Society and Culture will be held.
Saidur Rahman will present the keynote paper, while Asim Das will serve as the principal discussant.
Other speakers will include Kazi Roksana Ruma, Reza Arif, Umme Farhana, Shamim Shawkat, Jamil Ahmed and Azad Abul Kalam.
The festival will conclude with performances by Theatre School, Bottola Actors Studio, Aranyak Pathshala and Prachyanat School of Acting and Design.
Established in 2001, Prachyanat School of Acting and Design has been training actors, theatre practitioners, filmmakers and cultural workers, contributing significantly to Bangladesh’s performing arts landscape.
