Electricity generation from waste at the Aminbazar landfill in Boliarpur, Savar is expected to begin in November 2028, said State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam on Wednesday.
He made the announcement while speaking to journalists after inspecting the landfill site in the afternoon.
The state minister said environmental clearance for the project has already been obtained and preparatory work is complete.
“Electricity generation from the waste at Aminbazar landfill will begin in November 2028. All preparations in this regard have been completed,” he said.
He added that the initiative is being implemented as part of broader development plans under direct supervision of the prime minister.
“New projects are being undertaken to take the country forward. Several initiatives are underway under direct supervision,” he said.
State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shaikh Faridul Islam and Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton were present during the visit, among others.
