The Power Division has established a special control room to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers amidst the ongoing flood situation across the country.
The initiative was announced through an office order issued on Monday by the Coordination-2 branch. The order was signed by the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Power Division Md Masudur Rahman Masud.
According to the directive, the control room has been set up on the 14th floor of Bidyut Bhaban in the capital. It will remain operational every day, including public holidays, from 7am to 9pm.
In emergency situations, necessary coordination will continue via mobile phone beyond these scheduled hours. The designated contact numbers for the control room are 02-47120309 (telephone) and 01739-000293 (mobile).
The order specifies that 19 officials and employees of the Power Division have been assigned to duty in the control room until 31 July.
Their primary responsibility is to take immediate action by contacting the focal point officials of relevant power distribution agencies or companies if any disruptions or issues in power supply occur anywhere in the country.
Staff members are also instructed to inform higher authorities of any developments if necessary.
The control room is required to maintain constant communication with the Power Division’s integrated hotline, 16999.
The directive also stipulates that if any assigned official or employee is unable to perform their duties on a scheduled day due to unavoidable circumstances, they must personally coordinate with another designated official to ensure their responsibilities are covered.
