Two farmers were killed in separate lightning strike incidents in Panchagarh’s Debiganj upazila on Wednesday.
Mamun Islam, 30, son of Khadimul Islam from Sonahar Malchandi Paschim Telipara area, was struck by lightning while cutting jute amid rain around 11:40am, said Ashraful Islam Emu, chairman of Sadar Union Parishad.
In another incident, Akabbor Khan, 60, of Shimultoli area under Dandapal Union, died after being struck by lightning while working in his field, the chairman said.
Both victims were taken to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead.
