Police have arrested one individual in connection with the stabbing murder of Jubayed Hossain, a member of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) executive committee at Jagannath University (JnU). The suspect, a young woman, was a student of Jubayed’s.
The arrest was made on Sunday night from a residence on Noor Box Road in the Bangshal area, confirmed Mallik Ahsan Uddin, Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka metropolitan police’s Lalbagh division. According to police, the woman was the one to teach Jubayed, and he was murdered on his way to attend tuition.
Police are keeping close surveillance on other members of the household.
Jubayed’s lifeless body was found on the staircase of a house in Armanitola on Sunday evening. Preliminary police investigations suggest that he was stabbed to death.
