Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has urged newly appointed police and Ansar cadre officers to maintain strict political neutrality in their professional careers, stressing that political affiliations during student life must never influence their conduct in public service.

“Officers may have had political affiliations during their student days, but these must in no way be reflected in their professional lives,” he said.

He made the remarks on Sunday while addressing a briefing and introductory meeting with newly appointed 45th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Police and Ansar cadre officers at the conference room of the Home Ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat here.

The minister also called for the utmost caution and discretion in enforcing the law, warning officers against any form of abuse of authority.
