Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam carried out a surprise inspection of the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Dhaka Cantonment on Thursday.
Accompanied by Defence Secretary Md Ashraf Uddin, Shamsul Islam reviewed office operations and issued directives to improve efficiency, said a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The adviser instructed officials to strictly follow existing rules and regulations and maintain designated office hours to make official activities more effective.
He also emphasised transparency and accountability in the recruitment process, urged measures to reduce examination costs, and called for the introduction of a digital access control system to streamline attendance management.
The PMO release noted that despite the surprise inspection, the overall environment of the CAO office was found to be clean, orderly and satisfactory.
Shamsul Islam’s visit reflects the government’s ongoing focus on disciplined administration and modernising processes in key defence offices.
