Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) said the fifth edition of the Bay of Bengal Conversation (BoBC) will be held on 3-5 October at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
The international conference will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who is set to deliver the inaugural address before an audience of policymakers, diplomats, security experts, business leaders, academics, journalists, and emerging leaders from across the globe.
This year’s forum will be held under the theme “Fragments, Frontiers, Futures: Navigating Power, Technology and Trust in a World Rewritten”.
Organisers expect the participation of around 1,000 individuals from more than 100 countries, featuring around 200 speakers, making it one of the largest international strategic dialogue platforms ever hosted in Bangladesh.
The three-day event will explore profound transformations in the international landscape, including geopolitical competition, technological disruption, and climate challenges.
The programme includes high-level meetings, leadership forums, and strategic dialogues. The conference is organised around five flagship pillars:
- Power in Transition: Geopolitics, Security and Strategic Competition
- The Technology Frontier: AI, Cyber Space and Information Power
- The New Economic Geography: Trade, Connectivity and Strategic Growth
- Climate, Resilience and Human Security
- Trust, Democracy and the Future of Governance
Signature platforms during the event will include the PM’S address, the Bay of Bengal lecture, and the annual flagship discussion, “Why the Bay Matters to the World”.
According to the organisers, the Bay of Bengal is emerging as a consequential strategic region connecting South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the wider Indo-Pacific.
The forum aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the forces shaping the future of the region and the world through collaboration and the exchange of ideas.
The Bay of Bengal Conversation is an annual international dialogue platform convened by the CGS.
