Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met with Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari, on Sunday. The meeting took place at 4:12pm at the Al-Jamiyatul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari.
According to prime minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, Tarique visited the senior cleric to enquire after his health.
Upon his arrival at the madrasa, the prime minister was welcomed by Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari, who then escorted him to the guest reception room for a formal meeting.
Tarique was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammed Helal, and State Minister for Energy Anindya Islam Amit.
Lawmakers Sarwar Alam and Gias Kader Chowdhury were also in attendance.
As Tarique reached the madrasa, students lined both sides of the road to offer their greetings. He reportedly alighted from his vehicle to interact and exchange pleasantries with the young students.
Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari, a veteran Islamic scholar, serves as the principal of Al-Jamiyatul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa.
Following their private meeting, Tarique attended an exchange meeting held on the madrasa premises, which was presided over by Hefazat Ameer. A special marquee was erected on the grounds to mark Tarique’s visit.
The prime minister travelled by helicopter from Banshkhali to the Paindong Pelagazi Dighi helipad in Fatikchhari. From there, he proceeded by road to Babunagar Madrasa.
