Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday joined a programme marking Children’s Rights Day 2026 and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
He was welcomed by 150 children on arrival at the academy. The programme began with the national anthem before the prime minister took his seat alongside the guests.
His wife, Zubaida Rahman, vice-chairperson of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, was also present.
Minister for Women and Children Affairs AZM Zaid Hossain chaired the programme.
The day’s events include a cultural performance by children, presentation of mementos, unveiling of the souvenir ‘Shaishob’ and a session in which the prime minister will speak with children from different parts of the country through video conference.
He is also scheduled to inspect paintings by children and visit a photo gallery.
After the programme, the prime minister will visit the Child Museum Building to inaugurate a solar panel and sub-station installed on its ground floor.
