Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has issued special instructions regarding the development and environmental preservation of the Gulshan-Banani-Baridhara lakes.
The directives were given during a meeting chaired by the prime minister at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting involved detailed discussions on preventing water pollution, maintaining ecological balance, and enhancing the aesthetic beauty of the lakes, alongside improving lake-centric civic facilities for urban residents.
During the session, concerned officials highlighted the current condition of the lakes and presented various plans and initiatives aimed at sustainable development.
The high-level meeting was attended by Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher; State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam; and Principal Secretary to the PM ABM Abdus Sattar.
Also in attendance were the Administrators of Dhaka South and North City Corporations, Abdus Salam and Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton; Assistant Private Secretary to the PM Abdur Rahman Sani; and Rajuk Chairman Engineer Md Riazul Islam, along with senior officials from relevant ministries and departments.
In his instructions, the prime minister called for the implementation of necessary measures to preserve the environment and beauty of the lakes.
These initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for the people of the city.
