Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left Dhaka for Chandpur by road on Saturday morning to attend a series of official and political programmes, according to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.
During the daylong visit, the prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate the re-excavation work of two canals, distribute family cards among beneficiaries, address a roadside rally, and attend an organisational meeting of the district BNP.
According to the official itinerary, Tarique Rahman will first attend a roadside rally at Lakshmipur Bazar ground in Barura upazila of Cumilla at 11:30am.
He is then expected to inaugurate the re-excavation work of the Khordda Canal at Waruk Bazar under Tamta South Union in Shahrasti upazila of Chandpur at around 12:30pm.

Later, around 1:45pm, the prime minister will inaugurate another canal re-excavation project at Bishwo Khal near Ghosher Hat in Kumardugi village under Shah Mahmudpur Union of Chandpur Sadar upazila.
The schedule also includes a short break at Chandpur Circuit House at around 2:30pm.
At 3:30pm, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to attend a family card distribution programme at Chandpur Government College ground.
In the evening, at 5pm, he will participate in an organisational meeting of the Chandpur district BNP at Chandpur Club.
The prime minister is expected to conclude the visit by returning to Dhaka by road at around 6:30pm.
