Prime Minister Tarique Rahman took part in the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Plus Online Summit, organised to address climate change risks and reduce carbon emissions in the Asian region.
According to his Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh, the prime minister joined the summit virtually from his office at the parliament building at 12pm on Wednesday. The summit lasted for an hour, during which the prime minister delivered a speech.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were present.
The AZEC Plus Summit was chaired by Japan’s Sanae Takaichi. India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, and Indonesia participated in the summit.
Representatives from the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) also joined.
The summit discussed joint initiatives among Asian countries and international partners to reduce carbon emissions, expand renewable energy, and tackle climate change.
