Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced the formation of a committee to facilitate the launch of PayPal in Bangladesh as part of the government’s action plans to implement its election manifesto.
The prime minister outlined the action plans for the next 180 days, the next fiscal year, and the next five years during the sixth day of the first session of the 13th National Parliament on Wednesday.
He was responding to a written question from Sylhet-2 Member of Parliament Mst Tahsina Rushdi.
The committee has been formed to effectively manage hi-tech or software parks and ICT centres and to take effective initiatives for commencing PayPal operations in Bangladesh, the prime minister informed parliament.
All ministries and divisions are taking necessary steps to formulate action plans for the next 180 days, the next fiscal year, and the next five years to implement the activities announced in the government’s election manifesto, Tarique Rahman said.
The prime minister also announced increased loan facilities for students, stating that the existing collateral-free loan limit for language student visas has been raised from Tk3 lakh to Tk10 lakh.
Additionally, loan disbursement for students going to Japan has been facilitated based on the “Certificate of Eligibility” before visa acquisition, he added.
