Petronas said on Monday in Kuala Lumpur that it has never sponsored the Bangladesh Football League, responding to social media posts that claimed otherwise and raised questions about the league’s commercial arrangements.
In a statement reported by Astro AWANI, the Malaysian state owned oil and gas company said it has no agreement with the league and “has never entered into any form of sponsorship arrangement with the said league, nor authorised the use of our name or brand for any competition.”
Petronas added that it “places great importance on the reputation of our brand” and is “firmly committed to providing value to our partners, shareholders and the communities where we operate.”
The company said the clarification was issued “to avoid any misunderstanding among the public” and to maintain transparency regarding sponsorship activities involving the national energy firm.
