The Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners’ Association has warned that petrol pumps nationwide could shut down at any time due to a fuel supply crisis.
In a post on its Facebook page, the association said the current situation at petrol pumps across the country is dire. The daily supply of fuel from oil companies is insufficient to meet customer demand.
It noted that the surge of motorcycle and vehicle drivers forces long queues each day, leaving customers frustrated and exhausted and often sparking arguments with pump staff.
Workers are under relentless pressure, making their conditions abnormal and extremely difficult, the post added.
The association warned that security risks and inadequate fuel supply could force petrol pumps to close at any moment.
To stabilise the situation, the owners urged authorities to urgently boost fuel supplies and take effective action.
