Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser of NCP (South) and candidate of Jamaat-led 11-party alliance, has said the trust of the people secured his victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the Cumilla Town Hall ground on Saturday.

Describing the polls as a contest against a large and influential political force, he said the people stood by him and placed their confidence in him, which led to his victory.

He said his priority is to establish insaf, or justice, and to build a system where even his political opponents are not subjected to injustice.

He pledged to work for rebuilding what he termed a broken state structure.

He said eliminating fascism permanently is one of his principal goals.

He added that the party’s core commitments include ensuring accountability, maintaining zero tolerance against corruption and overhauling the state apparatus.

He received support from an 11-party alliance, including Jamaat-e-Islami, in the election.
