Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has called on all political parties to commit to abandoning the mindset of suppressing dissenting views.
He made the remarks on Friday at the inaugural session of the 2025 biennial council of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) at the National Press Club.
Golam Parwar said political parties must pledge not to silence differing opinions when they assume state power.
He urged journalists to remain united during difficult times, saying, “Politics should remain in its own place, but if journalists stay united, it is possible to build a truly strong nation.”
The Jamaat leader also emphasised the need to rise above self-interest and work toward national unity for the welfare of the country and the creation of a renewed national spirit.
