The second session of the 13th Parliament is scheduled to conclude on July 9, following a decision at the third meeting of the Business Advisory Committee on Sunday, chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad.
The committee finalised the allocation of time and duration for the session, which will primarily focus on the national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year. A total of 40 hours has been earmarked for general discussion on the budget.
Parliamentary sittings will begin at 3pm each day, except on public holidays. To ensure completion of parliamentary business within the scheduled timeframe, the committee proposed holding two sittings daily from 27 June to30. The Speaker has been authorised to make necessary adjustments to the duration of sittings or the number of working days if required.
Members were informed that 3,228 questions have been submitted for the session, including 191 directed to the Prime Minister and 3,037 to other ministers. Additionally, 98 notices have been filed under Rule 71 to discuss matters of urgent public importance, while 293 notices under Rule 131 relate to resolutions.
Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, MP, attended the meeting. Other participants included Opposition Leader Shafiqur Rahman, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, ATM Azharul Islam, Opposition Chief Whip Md Nahid Islam, and Muhammad Naushad Jamir.
At the Speaker’s special invitation, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, MP, was also present.
